About Trevor

I am a licensed counselling psychologist offering both in-person and online therapy, as well as other psychological services.

I have experience working with individuals who are living with anxiety, depression and other issues of adjustment in the psychology realm. I use a combination of psychoanalytic, existential, and cognitive psycho-therapeutic approaches.

I also have a special interest in working with both sports people and teams. I generally address issues related to individual and team performance. However, my specific focus is working with athletes who have experienced, or are experiencing, the detrimental psychological effects of severe or recurring injuries. This area of interest and practice is due to my personal history of being a professional athlete, as well as my psychological training and research in this area.

Working with people living with stress and anxiety, as well as those athletes who have been injured led me to design and develop two specific automated courses aimed at helping people to manage their experiences - Comeback from Stress and Anxiety and Comeback from Injury. I also offer weekly sessions of evidence-based guidance for those individuals who want both the course content and live online appointments.

The combination of both the automated courses with daily tasks and skills training, as well as online personal appointments has proven to be highly effective in the management of stress and anxiety associated with life challenges and/or injury recovery.

Stress

Psychological stress involves intricate physical and emotional reactions to challenges. While it’s natural and often motivating, excessive and prolonged stress can harm relationships, work and learning, severely impacting mental and physical health.

Anxiety

Common anxiety disorders include Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Panic Disorder, Social Anxiety Disorder (SAD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and other less severe anxiety and stress-related symptoms.

Depression

Depression research points toward experiences of isolation, loneliness and feeling disconnected with oneself and the world that seem to contribute to this major modern problem.

Trauma

Trauma therapy for Acute Stress Disorder (ASD), Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and dealing with sad and traumatic life events is not an easy process to engage in, but if committed, it can be a very worthwhile and positive life changing experience.

Life Adjustments

Therapy for exploring change, understanding what it means to you and how best to cope with it can lead to a deepened self-awareness, feelings of self-empowerment, creativity, future resilience and confidence.

Sports Performance

Sports performance is never just physical. Those athletes who are able to involve themselves in the skills of continual learning and self-growth are the ones who maximise their talents.

Injury & Recovery

Injuries can be a major setback in the achievement of your goals. The psychological component of recovery can be the missing factor in many rehabilitation processes. Involving yourself with it can make all the difference in your comeback.
Teams icon

Teams

If one is serious about team performance, whether in sports or corporate environments, one must become aware of relationship dynamics and their impact on the achievement of collective goals. This is a complex but meaningful pursuit.
